NEW IMAGES WILL BE ADDED DAILY

THIS WILL BE ONE OF PAULY`S NEW MARKER`S

Go to PAULY`S PAGE to see more.

Step.1

The marker must be fully disasembled, even to the smallest screw. Then into a degreasing solution prior to sandblasting, This is to ensure that the blast medium does not get contaminated. Fig. 1

Step. 2

After degreasing everything now goes into the sandblast booth for a good blasting. Fig. 2

These pieces have all been sandblasted Fig. 3. They will soak in another solvent bath Fig. 4 that is a different composition as the one used in step 1. Then they will hang to completely dry with the help of a heat lamp Fig. 5 .

From this point on latex gloves will be worn so as not to allow the oil from my skin to contaminate the surface that is to be painted.

Step. 3

Before we can start painting , the paint must be mixed with a variety of agents to ensure proper bonding.

Such as:

HARDENER

A FLEX AGENT

U V INHIBITOR

A RETARDING AGENT

The type of material that is to be painted will dictate what agents will be used and in what proportions.

note:

Some plastics such as those found in masks or barrel shrouds were made using the injection molding process. If this is the case then the plastic has become contaminated with a mold release agent. There fore great care must be taken to completely remove this agent and treat the surface to be painted with an adhesion promoter.

The peices in Fig 6 have now received 3 coats and have dried overnight. They will be slightly buffed using OOOO steel wool. This will ensure a smooth finish on completion. After buffing these peices will be assembled into the major components of the marker and given 2 more final coats.

Step 4

In Fig. 7 you can see that the peices have been partially assembled. If the customer requested a camoflauge pattern or any kind of stenciling, this is the time it would be applied. That is not the case with this marker so we will skip that part. If you are interested in more information on how the camo patterns are done please go to the main DURACOAT PAGE.

Once all the colors have been applied it is time for the clear coat. This is where you can choose the final finish of your marker.

MATTE

SATIN CLEAR/SEMI GLOSS

GLOSS CLEAR

The finish chosen here is SEMI GLOSS and two coats will be applied.

At the start of this project the barrel itself and the drum mag were to remain there original colors. But after assembly this did not look all that good so it was decided to duracoat them as well in a Matte Black. See Fig 8 and Fig 9.

Step 8

All the peices have now cured over night and are raedy for final assembly and lubrication.
